As sales of HDTVs (High Definition Televisions) soar the technology continues to take leaps and bounds forward. The top players in the industry strive to produce the most advanced disc player with the goal of providing the market with the pinnacle in video quality that will enable us the public to enjoy wonderfully realistic imagery in both our cinemas and home entertainment arena.
Is DVD High Definition? - Absolutely Not
Putting the success of DVDs to one side, one thing it is not is a high definition format. When compared with the old VCR it is undoubtedly a much higher quality and resolution but it only gets to about 50% of the resolution that is produced by HDTV. A Blue ray player can put out a video signal at a rate comparable to that which is expected in cinemas and therefore the impression seen by the viewer is that which you would get from a cinema experience albeit within the confines of your own home.
What Is Upscaling?
This is the process whereby the physical pixel count on your HDTV is matched by the signal output of the DVD which sharpens and defines the image resulting in an increased quality of picture. A DVD can be upscaled via an HDMI output connection to the disc player to 1080p. This in turn returns a significantly better color consistency and detail.
To produce an engaging and truly immersive staged sound a Blue ray player combines DTS digital surround, digital plus and audio codec which can be commenced at an extremely high rate within a matter of about 10 seconds.
To avoid that hassle of having to be close enough to the Blue ray player to operate it a remote control is provided, as is standard these days. Inputs are switched to the player automatically so that you do not have to alter any settings manually.
The Sony PS3
Probably the best known of all the blue ray players it is very compact, very nice looking and operates at high speeds. This blue ray player comes up to scratch by meeting our demands and provides somewhat more than we demand of these devices. On top of that it is very competitively priced when you compare it to other models in its class.
Have You Heard Of Sony's BDP S1 Blue ray player?
This player enables playback of discs in high definition. You can utilise the upscaled settings on it to play ordinary DVDs therefore not making these current DVDs obsolete. Whether in a theater or cinema in a town or city or in your own home you can see the
huge efforts that are being put into this technology to bring that perfect entertainment moment to the customer. Continual strides for that ever higher level of defined imagery are being sought. As we all know with technology it wont stop there. New innovations and further improvements will continue to be achieved and then a new level of blue ray player will be born.

Home Theaters are becoming more affordable for everyone. You no longer have to be of the elite to have a home theater room. You don't have to sacrifice quality or just plain coolness. You can have a great sounding home theater room for under $5,000.
Here is a list of the items we listing when we planned our theater room.
PROJECTOR:
Projectors provide the ultimate home theater experience. Nothing else comes as close to truly re-creating the viewing experience of a movie theater. Front-projection TV delivers all that and more - images bursting with cinematic detail and color across a larger-than-life screen measured in feet, not inches. The projector will need a bracket to hang on. They can usually be found where you get the projector.
SCREEN:
With front projection you can go BIG! Shop around for screen you can get very good screens for a lot less than the retail stores would have you believe. We found really great deals on ebay.
RECEIVER:
We went with Sony all the way, but that's just us. Shop for something you trust and feel comfortable spending you dollars on.
DVD PLAYER/CHANGER:
We went with a single DVD recorder and a 400 disc changer. We use the single player for movies we rent or ones we get from family and friends to return and we load our collection in the disc changer.
SPEAKERS:
Speakers can be as simple or as high end as you desire. We went with a 7:1 arrangement. Two in front; two on the sides and two in the back plus a center channel and a sub-woofer.
SEATING:
Seating should be arranged so everyone has a good view of the screen. However, if more seating is needed throw some fun big pillows on the floor - the more the merrier.
You'll need a good power supply that is designed to take the load of all your components. These can be a little pricey, but are well worth it.
Set the mood with movie posters, collectibles! You can have a lot of fun putting these together. We threw in an old fashioned stand up pop corn machine.
Get started on your home theater room today! It's great fun!

Unless you have lots and money and time, seeing movie every now and then will be a costly affair and can sometimes even put a hole in your pocket. The only solution to your problem is setting up a home theater system in your home. A home theater system is basically an assortment of electronic components arranged together to give you the best movie experience possible. The best quality home theater system comprises of the DVD/ VCD player, high definition plasma or LCD TV, audio / video receiver and the most important component - the surround sound speaker system.
Choosing the best home theater system needs careful planning and a wise decision and will not work out if you take a hasty decision. One must be careful in selecting the various components that can make the best home theater system. Before going for a home theater system, you must get your family's permission, even more if it is to be placed in the living room or in a place where the entire family shares. The next important priority is getting the high quality devices that make up the best home theater system. The first and foremost device that you should hunt for is a high definition TV. Finally, the most important electronic equipment that will make the home theater look and sound best is the surround sound speaker system. Normally, surround sound speaker system comes as five pieces namely- 2 front speakers, 2 rear speakers and a center channel speaker. Also, the positioning of all these speakers is most important inorder to have absolute movie viewing pleasure and will help in achieving the perfect distribution of the sound. If you want to have a blast out speaker system, then you will have to go for one that has more watts and ohms.
