Firstly, I am writing this review from Canada. My goals were clear around the purchase of a Home Theatre in a Box (HTiB). I wanted a Blu-ray and 3D compatible player with full set of wireless speakers and wifi compatibility. I had to compromise on the wireless speakers since this model only offers wireless rear speakers. The sound quality is great. Setup was very simple. I read the quick setup guide and followed the on-screen instructions to complete the speaker setup and installation of the HTiB in 30 minutes. I have a Sony KDL46EX400 LCD TV and the Bravia Sync works great with this model. As soon as I switch on the TV, the speakers automatically switch to the HTiB. Unfortunately, my TV is not compatible with Audio Return Channel so I did have to use a Digital Optical Audio Cable (not included with this model) from my TV to the HTiB Audio Input. If you have a TV compatible with Audio Return Channel, then there is bi-directional flow of information via the HDMI cables (not included with this model) and you wouldn't need any additional audio cable connection from the TV to the HTiB to watch cable. So you would need an HDMI cable connecting your HDPVR and your TV and another HDMI cable connecting the HTiB and your TV. Then, no matter what your watching, the system will always use your HTiB speakers. Anyway, I performed the calibration of the speakers automatically using the attached calibration microphone. It took about two minutes to complete. I also performed a network update to firmware M04.R.624 using the included WiFi USB key over my WiFi network (setup with Apple Extreme Base Station router). It took about twenty minutes to complete and I did not have any problems. Some people mentioned the Sony website is not user friendly, I would suggest using the Google search engine, use the model number, manufacturer name, and "support" as keywords. It is very easy to find the manuals and reviews.
The only downside to having the product in Canada is that I No, Netflix, Pandora, Hulu, Amazon, or on-demand video. Apple TV stream from my TV to my iMac using my speakers, HTiB is used.
Good luck in the purchase, I suggested Sony BDV - E770W your budget, you can not play the blue or the PS3.
